Daybreak

Privacy Policy

Version 1.0 · Last updated August 30, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how the Daybreak app ("Daybreak," "we," "us"), operated by an individual sole proprietor, collects, uses, and shares information. Daybreak is designed to work without an account: there is no sign-up, no password, and no email required to use the App.

2. Information You Provide

  • Display name: at first launch you enter a name, used to personalize the App and associated with your usage profile.
  • Survey response: your answer to "What brings you to Daybreak?" during onboarding.
  • Feedback: any free-text feedback you choose to submit from the Profile screen.

Please do not include sensitive personal information in your name or feedback.

3. Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: events describing how the App is used — for example lessons started and completed, stories viewed or skipped, exercises answered, screens visited, streaks, hearts, and feature taps — together with timestamps.
  • Session replays: visual recordings of your interactions with the App's screens, reconstructed from periodic screenshots of the App's own interface (never other apps or your device outside Daybreak). Because on-screen text is not masked, text visible in the App — including text you type into the App's fields — appears in replays.
  • Crash and diagnostic data: crash reports and error information used to find and fix bugs.
  • Device information: general device and app details such as device model, operating system version, app version, and language.
  • Identifier: a random identifier generated on your device and stored in the device Keychain so your usage can be associated across sessions and reinstalls. It is not your name, email, phone number, or Apple ID, and it is not the advertising identifier (IDFA).

4. What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your email address, phone number, contacts, precise location, photos, health data, or payment information. We do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

5. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to operate and improve the App: to understand which content and features are used and where users struggle, to decide what to build next (including ranking requested courses), to personalize the experience (such as greeting you by name), to diagnose and fix crashes and bugs, and to read and act on feedback. We do not use your information for third-party advertising.

6. How Information Is Shared

  • Service providers: analytics data (including the categories in Sections 2 and 3) is processed and hosted on our behalf by PostHog Inc. on servers located in the United States, solely to provide analytics services to us.
  • Legal: we may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users, the public, or the Operator.
  • Business transfers: if the App or its operator's business is sold, merged, or transferred, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

7. Data Retention

Usage data, replays, and feedback are retained for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above, subject to the retention limits of our analytics provider, and are deleted or de-identified when no longer needed. Data stored on your device (progress, name, settings) remains until you delete the App; the Keychain identifier may persist after deletion, per Section 3.

8. Your Choices and Rights

  • Deletion and access: you may request access to, or deletion of, the data associated with your usage profile by emailing us at the address below from within a description of your device and approximate usage dates (since we have no account, we will work with you to locate your data via your name and identifier).
  • Notifications: reminders are optional and controlled in the App and in iOS Settings.
  • California residents: you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to request deletion; and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA.
  • EEA/UK residents: where GDPR applies, we process the data above on the basis of legitimate interests (operating and improving the App) and consent where required; you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

To exercise any right, contact us at the address in Section 12.

9. Children

Daybreak is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will delete it. Users between 13 and the age of majority should use the App with a parent or guardian's consent.

10. Security

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including transport encryption for data sent to our analytics provider. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International Transfers

The App is operated from the United States and information is processed and stored in the United States. If you use the App from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.

12. Changes; Contact

We may update this Policy from time to time; material changes will be indicated by updating the version and date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
